2026 Subaru Uncharted

It’s name sounds more like a movie title than a car, but the Subaru Uncharted – that’s correct, “Uncharted” – is set to join the automaker’s lineup as its third all-electric model.

It will join the refreshed and upgraded Solterra and the upcoming 2026 Trailseeker in Subie showrooms as a 2026 model. Launch date hasn’t been announced, but the grand unveiling will be held July 17 in New York and a will be live-streamed on the company’s website at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

Subaru’s said nothing about the new EV except that it will be a compact crossover. With the EV development overlap between Subaru and Toyota – the Solterra and Trailseeker are Subie twins of the Toyota bZ4X and the upcoming 2026 bzWoodland – it is likely the Uncharted will be based on the all-wheel drive C-HR battery-electric crossover Toyota has announced for 2026.

If that’s indeed the case, the Subaru Uncharted would likely use the same dual-motor, 338-hp electric drive system and 74.1 kWh battery pack as the Toyota, although tuning differences could change both power and range for the Subaru version. The C-HR is rated at a Toyota-estimated 290 miles.

One thing that will change is the the roof line. While the Toyota features a steeply loped, fastback coupe-like roof atop the raised crossover body, the teaser photo released by Subaru shows a taller, more SUV-like roof.

We’ll be back with more after the New York unveiling.

Meantime – if it’s Uncharted, will buyers need a Trailseeker as well, to help it find its way?
