Note: Acura parent Honda Motor announced in early March 2026 that it has canceled plans for the electric RSX.
It’s Monterey Car Week time and a near-production prototype of Acura’s new RSX EV debuts there. The week is built around the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and that has become a major showcase for new automotive designs and luxury vehicle car launches.
One of the first off the blocks is Acura, which is displaying the near-production prototype of its all-electric RSX crossover and has released a half-dozen exterior shots to whet appetites.
The company released a photo of a camouflage-clad Acura RSX EV along with some basic background back in January, but this is the first time we’ve seen it in street wear.
The new RSX – formerly the nameplate was used on a sporty coupe sold in the U.S. from 2002 through 2006 – will be the first Acura electric vehicle designed and engineered in-house. It uses a Honda-developed EV platform and will be the first EV produced at the new Honda EV Hub flexible manufacturing facility in Ohio.
The photos Acura is sharing are exterior only – expect interior shots a little closer to the launch, which the company says will be sometime in the second half of 2026 (earlier guesstimates had it in the first half), most likely as a 2027 model.
Enjoy looking – it’s not as good as going, but it beats a blackout. The color, by the way, is “Propulsion Yellow Pearl:”

TheGreenCarGuy tends to go into a diabetic coma perusing automakers’ florid descriptions of their new cars, but as we haven’t seen it for ourselves yet, we’ll share what Acura has to say about the design:
It’s an “expressive coupe-like silhouette” with “powerful proportions and high-tech details. The Prototype’s dramatic fastback roofline creates a sense of speed with deeply sculpted side surfaces, flush door handles and integrated ducktail-style rear spoiler.”

“The Acura RSX Prototype accentuates its wide, athletic stance with flared wheel wells and large multi-spoke 21-inch rims, showcasing the large front Brembo brakes with bright red calipers. Its long wheelbase pushes the wheels out to the corners, shortening the overhangs for a modern, performance-oriented look.”

“The front fascia of the Acura RSX Prototype is bold and distinctive – evolving the brand’s unique Diamond Pentagon design language with a more dramatic lighting signature. The Acura RSX Prototype introduces a striking, separated-headlight design with sharp and slim Daytime Running Lights and low mounted LED headlamps.”

“The full-width rear taillight of the Acura RSX Prototype pays homage to the second generation NSX and is complemented by “ACURA” splashed across the tailgate in a new font.”
