Toyota is adding a fifth RAV4 Hybrid trim level for the 2021 model year: The XLE Premium.

[A 1-min. read.]

The new hybrid trim starts at $33,675 and slots between the $30,970 XLE and the XSE sporty trim, which starts at $35, 625. The new trim level nicely fills what had been a pretty gaping price and equipment void in the middle of the RAV4 Hybrid lineup. There’s been an XLE Premium in the non-hybrid lineup for several years.

Other RAV4 Hybrid trims returning for the 2021 model year are the base LE, starting at $29,675, and the line-topping Limited, starting at $38,205.

All those prices include Toyota’s mandatory $1,175 destination fee for small SUVs.

To the standard XLE Hybrid features package, the XLE Premium Hybrid adds 18-inch chromed alloy wheels; a power moonroof, power driver’s seat – with two-position memory as an option; SofTex faux leather upholstery; leather-trimmed shift lever and steering wheel; rear seating compartment vents for the climate control system; and a power rear lift gate.

The XLE Premium trim also is eligible for several options not available with the standard XLE Hybrid:

  • An audio upgrade to an 11-speaker system with 8-inch touchscreen;
  • A two-position memory function for the driver’s seat, and rain-sensing windshield wipers;
  • An advanced technology package that includes front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, a digital rearview mirror and Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging.

As has been the case from the start of the current generation RAV4, all Hybrid models get electronic all-wheel drive as standard equipment.
