Stellantis is recalling more than 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks worldwide over fire concerns and is urging owners to park outside and away from structures or other vehicles until a fix is completed.
In a June 9 NHTSA filing, Stellantis said the recall covers 2021-25 model year Jeep Wrangler SUVs and Jeep Gladiator trucks over an electrical connection issue in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring.
It gets old – an EV catches fire due to an accident or a faulty battery pack and the haters go bananas.
If the Jeep recall had been about Jeep EVs..oh boy!

Data from the National Transportation Safety Board and Bureau of Transportation Statistics shows that gas cars catch fire at the rate of 1,530 out of 100,000 cars, while battery electric vehicle fires occur in 25 EVs per 100,000. Hybrids actually have the most fires, at 3,475 per 100,000
It is true that when they do happen, EV battery fires are more difficult to extinguish – it takes longer and requires special training to do it right.
But the idea that every EV is a bonfire waiting to happen is just as silly as reminding those who favor internal combustion engines that the gas tanks of their cars and trucks contain the explosive power of a few dozen sticks of dynamite and that they are more than 600 times more likely to burst into flame than is an EV..
