A Mini Countryman prototype with a plug has been spotted, apparently in the California desert or in Death Valley – a popular hot weather testing site.

The popular Autoblog site reports that the camouflaged car is likely to be a test model of the hybrid Mini that’s long been expected and that, a bit surprisingly, looks to be coming as plug-in hybird.
The Mini PHEV appears to be larger than the current model, but its overall look remains largely unchanged.
The Autoblog article suggests a 2019 launch for the Mini PHEV.
