2025 Nissan Ariya

Nissan’s newest EV, the Ariya – a very nice electric crossover that hasn’t proven itself to be nice enough – is being canceled in the U.S. for the 2026 model year.

Beyond that, a company spokesman told us, there’s been no decision.

The Ariya was introduced as a 2023 model that gave shoppers an upscale and longer-range alternative to the venerable Nissan Leaf – the first modern mass-produced EV.

While the Ariya has received decent reviews, the message almost universally – including from us – has been that while it is a quality EV with all mod cons, it doesn’t really offer anything that can’t be had with competitors from bigger brands.

As a result, the Ariya hasn’t sold as well in the U.S. as a financially struggling Nissan needs it to.

So, with the Leaf getting a complete makeover for 2026, the folks at Nissan decided to put their U.S. marketing efforts into the slightly smaller and decidedly less expensive new Leaf and pull the Ariya from the lineup.

Bargains Available

We hate to see it go, but on the upside for EV shoppers, there are likely to be some really nice deals to be had on the remaining inventory of 2025 Nissan Ariyas.

For instance, as September 2025 draws to a close, Nissan is offering a $179 monthly lease for the base front-wheel drive model; $10,000 cash back for purchasers of any trim level plus an additional $1,000 for those trading in another Nissan, or interest-free financing plus up to $3,000 cash back.

Whether the big discounts from corporate will remain after the federal tax credit that helps lower the cost of some of the competition expires on Oct. 1 remains to be seen, but it’s not hard to imagine Nissan dealers bending over backward to move their remaining Ariya stock off the floor as the year wears on.

And if the car meets your wants and needs but a new one is still too much even with the incentives, lightly used Ariyas are a great value these days as well.
